"You know, it's all a question of good neighborliness. When it comes to politics, why do we seem to forget that? It's cooperation, not conflict, that makes a community." Thanks to that seemingly simple observation, hapless Emerson Waldo is tapped to run for village council. Intelligent, discerning readers of all political flavors mortified by what politics has become will find the sardonic tale of Emerson Waldo's nightmarish voyage through today's electoral process wickedly irresistible. WALDO A MORAL TALE WITHOUT A MORAL skewers the venomous incivilities of the Left, the Right and the rabidly sanctimonious Center. It gleefully sets up, then upsets, the collective brine in which we've pickled our political discourse. Husa's genially brutal humor is draped a viciously basic black, tarted up with pearls of uproarious insight. Satire waaaaay too close to home.

WALDO A Moral Tale WITHOUT A Moral edition by Nurmi Husa Politics Social Sciences eBooks

All politics is local, and as they say life imitates art. Having worked in politics for awhile, I loved this dark comedy for using a story book approach with all the symbolic names you could ever hope for to get the point across. I laughed out loud many times and stayed bemused throughout. If you do not think politics, the law and all the et ceteras can become as stupid, contrived, and deranged as this book presents, then you are are in Dire need of this tutorial of how to decipher public presentations, how different agendas interpret what they will of a political candidate for their own reasons, and finally that facts and truth are never the issue. The setting of a small town drives home the point that no matter the size of any operation it is always a small town of characters that runs the show, or rather grapples for influence to control the show. The characters are in this little book are real, the names have been made symbolic to protect the guilty.

WALDO A Moral Tale WITHOUT A Moral edition by Nurmi Husa Politics Social Sciences eBooks Reviews

The book truly needs to be read to be believed. Husa is a past master of subtle and elegant prose, highly suitable for this tale of human comedy, absurdities and inevitabilities. Certainly a keeper; one wants to go back to it every once in a while.
You'll laugh, you'll shake your head, and you'll never wish a political venture upon yourself or any of your loved ones! Well written, engaging, and timeless. I highly recommend this book for anyone that's politically inclined, regardless of what their own political leanings are. It's a light read but with enough depth to make you think.
"Waldo" is a humor-filled tale. A social psychoanalysis, with characters you know...including yourself! Nurmi Husa peers into our neighborhoods and our political souls. Are we that hilariously strange? Well, sure we are, but it takes Husa's insightful dismantling of our cover stories to finally reveal the truths we would never otherwise admit. (I can't read the daily newspaper now without seeing one of Husa's characters and laughing out loud!)

I'm still reading this delightful tale. It's so clever, I'm reading each page a few times. Waldo is a sweet shop owner who becomes an unlikely political candidate. He is the sort of person you would love to see run for office in your town. I'm savoring each tasty page, discovering what happens to this man.

I have finished the book now. Our hapless hero, Waldo, is pure at heart. Will he be corrupted by the system? Can he stand up to all of the craziness of his little town? How can Waldo survive this microcosm that mimics our wacky world? Well, no spoilers here. You'll just have to read it yourself. Please do. The book overflows with humor, some light, some dark. I highly recommend this book.
